News Archive  February 2008

WE'RE COUNTING DOWN TO THE NEW SEASON!

The countdown to the 2008 speedway season for the Wightlink Islanders is well and truly on with that season opening at Smallbrook Stadium on Saturday March 22 at 7.30pm.
On that night the new look Isle of Wight side will face the Reading Racers in the first leg of the Chalfont Coaches Challenge, the return leg taking place at the Berkshire circuit the following day.
And event sponsors Chalfont Coaches are laying on subsidised coach travel from Portsmouth for the away leg which means that Wightlink Islanders fans can cheer on their heroes in the away leg for just £4 to cover the cost of the Fastcat to and from Portsmouth.
Seats on the coaches are being snapped up very quickly indeed so fans are urged to telephone the speedway office at Smallbrook on 01983 811180 as soon as possible to book their places before they all go.

PRACTICE SESSION...

A practice sessions have been planned to take place at Smallbrook to enable the 2008 Wightlink Islanders to shake off the winter cobwebs,
It takes place on MARCH 11th. Anyone who would like to come along to watch are most welcome to do so absolutely free of charge.

A reminder that the practice that was meant to be held on the 4th March has now been cancelled.
